Staying at The Mark Preece Family House

When a loved one is critically ill or injured, families need to be close. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and affordable “home away from home” for families of patients receiving care in Hamilton-area hospitals.

Research shows that patients heal better when their loved ones are nearby. Family presence offers emotional support and plays a vital role in recovery. That’s why we’re here, to make it possible for families to stay together during some of life’s most difficult challenges.

Whether you need a place for a few days or several weeks, we offer more than a bed. We offer a community of understanding, comfort, and strength, so you can focus on what matters most: being there for your loved one.

HOW IT WORKS

Requesting a stay

Our Stay Request Form can be completed by either hospital staff or family members. Any Stay Request Form completed by a family member must also be approved by hospital staff.

Eligibility

All families staying at The MPFH must have:

Stay Request & Booking

First time families are required to complete a Stay Request Form, approved by a member of their loved one’s medical team. Returning guests may call the House directly to request a stay: 905-529-0770. Note: A Stay Request does not guarantee availability. Please call to confirm.

Rates & What's Included

Families are asked to contribute $60/night to help with operating costs. The rate includes accommodation, parking on-site, and access to our complimentary Thyme for Dinner program

Urgent Requests

Please note: Online stay requests are not monitored overnight (between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.). For urgent requests, please call the House directly at 905-529-0770 to confirm receipt and vacancy status.

Visitor Policy

Visiting Hours are between 9:00am to 9:00pm. Visitors are required to sign in/out at the main Reception desk and respect the House guidelines.

Room Availability

An approved Stay Request confirms your eligibility to stay but does not guarantee room availability. Because current families often do not know when their loved one will be discharged, availability changes daily based on medical needs. We understand how difficult this uncertainty can be, and our team will do everything possible to welcome your family on your requested date or as soon as a room becomes available.
